What matters
A poem on what matters and what doesn't.
Be smart, they said Be clever, they said Be clear, state simply All these goals are not really important. Don’t want them because they are the real goals Want them because they are the means to an end Intention is all that matters Intention is the choice that makes you Wanting the right thing for the wrong reasons is still wrong The goal they serve is to see clearly What must remain, what is most important? The real problem they are trying to solve is not of simplicity But of priorities, of truth What is real, what is not? What is an illusion, what is delusion? What exists, what doesn’t? Of relationships, what depends on what And whose foundations lie Strive for that purpose Not to become smart for the world Or clever in your head That will only fuel your cravings Drag you into more suffering The truth will set you free.
